Questions about a charge? support@mavrakstudio.com
1. Accepted payment methods
We accept the following payment methods through our Shopify checkout:
- Debit and credit cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express [add Discover, Diners Club, UnionPay, Maestro, etc. if enabled];
- Accelerated wallets: Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay [remove any you have disabled];
- [Optional] PayPal and any local methods you have enabled (e.g. iDEAL, Bancontact, Klarna)” — remove this line if not used.
The payment methods available to you are always shown at checkout — availability may vary by country and device. All payment methods are processed in full before dispatch; we do not offer cash on delivery, bank transfer, or payment on invoice [adjust if you do].
2. How payment is processed
- All card and wallet payments are processed by Shopify Payments — Shopify’s integrated payment gateway (in the EU/UK, Shopify Payments is powered by Stripe as the payment processor).
- When you place an order, your payment is authorised at checkout and captured when we accept and fulfil your order (see our Terms of Service for when the contract is formed).
- Only payments actually captured result in a charge to your card. If we decline or cancel your order, any authorisation is released or voided and no funds are taken (released authorisations can take a few days to disappear from a pending state, depending on your bank).
- By submitting payment, you confirm that you are the authorised holder of the payment method and that the billing details you provide are accurate.
3. Payment security
- Payments are processed on Shopify’s platform, which is certified as PCI DSS Level 1 — the highest level of payment card industry compliance.
- All traffic is encrypted with TLS/SSL. Your full card number is entered directly into Shopify’s secure checkout and is never transmitted to, seen, or stored by us. Card details are tokenised by the payment processor.
- We store only the minimum order data needed to serve you (see our Privacy Policy).
4. Strong Customer Authentication (3D Secure)
To comply with the EU’s PSD2 regulations and equivalent UK rules, your bank may require extra verification when you pay — for example a code in your banking app, SMS, or fingerprint. This is called Strong Customer Authentication and is handled between you, your bank, and Shopify Payments. If the authentication fails or is abandoned, the payment will not go through. This added step protects you against unauthorised use of your card.
5. Currency, taxes and fees
- Prices are displayed and charged in [EUR / GBP / your store currency]. Where VAT or sales tax applies, it is included in the displayed price or itemised at checkout.
- If your card is denominated in another currency, your bank may apply its own currency conversion and foreign transaction fees — these are set by your bank, not by us, and are not included in our prices.
- We do not add any surcharge or fee for choosing a particular payment method (card, wallet, or otherwise). You pay exactly the price shown at checkout plus any shipping costs displayed there.
6. How the charge appears on your statement
Transactions will appear on your bank statement as “[MAVRAK STUDIO or the descriptor shown in your Shopify Payments settings]” [check Settings → Payments → Shopify Payments in your admin, or your first test/international order, for the exact descriptor]. If you do not recognise a charge, check whether a family member with access to your card placed an order, then contact us at support@mavrakstudio.com and we will help identify it.
7. Order verification and fraud screening
For your protection and ours, orders are screened for fraud using Shopify’s automated fraud analysis and payment processor checks. In rare cases we may contact you to verify your order (e.g. confirm the billing address or shipping destination) before dispatch. If we cannot verify an order or reasonably believe it to be fraudulent, we will cancel it and void or fully refund the payment. This does not affect your statutory rights.
8. Declined or failed payments
If your payment is declined, no order is created and no money leaves your account (though a temporary authorisation hold may appear). Common reasons include insufficient funds, an expired card, incorrect billing details, 3D Secure not being completed, or your bank blocking the transaction. You may try again with the same or a different payment method. If problems persist, contact your bank or email us at support@mavrakstudio.com — we never store declined card details.
9. Refunds and chargebacks
- Refunds are issued to your original payment method, for the full amount including standard delivery where required — see our Return & Refund Policy for windows, conditions, and timing.
- Because refunds are processed back through Shopify Payments, they typically appear on your statement within 5–10 business days of being issued, depending on your bank.
- If you believe a charge is wrong or unauthorised, please contact us before opening a bank dispute — we can usually resolve it faster. If you do raise a chargeback with your card issuer, we will cooperate with the dispute process and may put the order on hold while it is decided.
10. Payment data and privacy
We process your personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. Payment data is handled by Shopify and its payment processors under their own legal terms and privacy notices, which apply to the payment processing:
