About Us
Our Story
Leather worth keeping.
Priced like it isn’t.
Mavrak Studio is a leather goods house built on a simple, slightly stubborn idea: that the price of a beautiful thing should reflect how it was made — not how loudly it was marketed.
In Brief
We make and curate leather goods that are meant to be used: full-grain western hats, structured handbags, duffles you can actually throw in the back of a car. Every piece is chosen for how the leather behaves in your hands on day one — and how much better it looks on day one thousand.
We are a UK-facing studio, working with tanneries and workshops across the world to source hides we’d be happy to keep for ourselves. We design in small runs, we price honestly, and we’d rather sell you one thing you love than five you don’t.
Where We Started
A quiet rebellion against the logo tax
Mavrak Studio began with a frustration familiar to anyone who has ever loved a well-made object and then looked at the price tag. Somewhere between the tannery and the boutique, a leather hat had stopped costing what it costs to make — and started costing what a brand believed it could get away with.
We wanted the other half of that equation. So we went looking for the workshops, the full-grain hides, the hands that know how to shape a brim and set a seam — and we built a studio around selling those pieces as close to their true value as we can manage.
No flagship store rent baked into the price. No celebrity campaign to pay off. Just the material, the making, and a fair margin for the people who did the work.
The Collection
Three things, done properly
Western hats
Our signature. Full-grain and crazy-horse leathers, shaped brim by brim, in finishes that shift from rustic brown and faded black to deep burgundy. Some crushable, some structured — all built to be worn in weather, not kept on a shelf.
Handbags
Hobo silhouettes, shoulder bags, limited editions. Clean lines, hardware that doesn’t shout, and interiors designed around what people genuinely carry. Cut from hides chosen for how they soften rather than how they photograph.
Travel & duffles
Buffalo leather holdalls and weekender bags, made to be over-packed, dropped, and carried for a decade. These are the pieces we test hardest, because they’re the ones that come back to us with stories.
How We Work
“A price should tell you something true about an object. Ours tells you what the leather cost, who made it, and what it takes to keep making it. That’s it.”
Sourced globally, chosen slowly. We work with tanneries and partner workshops across several countries rather than a single factory. Hides are selected by hand, and a batch that doesn’t meet standard doesn’t go into the collection — however long we’ve waited for it.
Small runs, no seasonal churn. We would rather release fewer pieces and stand behind them. When something sells out it may well come back, but only when the leather and the making are right again.
Honest pricing, always. When we run a promotion, it is a genuine reduction on a genuine price — not a permanent “sale” on an inflated one. The number on the tag means something here.
Made To Be Used
The tenth year is the point
Full-grain leather is the strongest cut of the hide, and the only one that improves with age instead of flaking. It takes a scuff and turns it into a patina. It records where you’ve been. A Mavrak piece is not finished when it reaches you — it’s finished somewhere around year ten, and it will look better then than it does today.
Which is the whole argument, really. Buy less. Buy better. Keep it long enough that it stops being a purchase and starts being yours.
Thank you for being here early.
We’re glad you found us.
